HHS Pays One COVID Vaccine Injury Claim in February as Almost 10,000 Others Wait
The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) just released new data on the Countermeasures Injury Compensation Program (CICP) that includes claims compensated in February 2025. The big news is that only ONE person out of the thousands waiting received compensation in the past month.
Lawsuit Filed Against HHS Secretary For Agency’s Failure to Follow the Vaccine Act
The attorneys of mctlaw filed a lawsuit in January against the Secretary of Health and Human Services demanding the COVID vaccine be moved into the Vaccine Injury Compensation Program (VICP). The lawsuit alleges that HHS has failed to comply with federal law requiring that the COVID vaccine be added to the list of vaccines covered by the VICP. In contrast to the CICP, the VICP allows injured people to bring claims for compensation in a federal court. There, victims have the right to present evidence, be heard, appear in front of a court, and appeal to higher courts.
The Government has until April 21st to respond to the lawsuit. Hopefully, HHS, under the leadership of Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., does what the previous administration failed to do: follow federal law and allow compensation for thousands of COVID vaccine injured people across the country. HHS has failed to provide compensation to those who need it most. It’s time for change.
COVID and the CICP by the Numbers
The numbers tell a clear story: the CICP remains slow and miserly. Those injured by the COVID vaccine are not getting the compensation they deserve.
- The ONE new claim compensated by the CICP paid out only $4,264.89 to a person who developed myocarditis after being administered the COVID vaccine.
- In the same month, the CICP rejected 188 COVID vaccine injury claims.
- The CICP has compensated only 27 COVID vaccine injury claims out of 13,706 filed.
- 18 of the compensated cases involved myocarditis, a condition involving inflammation of the heart.
- Research has linked the COVID vaccine to conditions like SIRVA, Bell’s Palsy, and Guillan-Barré Syndrome, but so far, the CICP awards have focused almost exclusively on myocarditis.
- Excluding two much higher awards, the average compensation paid is only $4,113.04 per person.
- 9,788 people are still waiting for the CICP to make a decision about their claim.
- 99% of COVID vaccine injury claims have been denied compensation by the CICP, and nearly 10,000 claims are still waiting for a decision.
